Book cover and blurb

Title: School of Deaths

Author: Christopher Mannino

Genre: YA Fantasy

Thrust into a world of men, can a timid girl find bravery as the first female Death?

Thirteen-year-old Suzie Sarnio always believed the Grim Reaper was a fairy tale image of a skeleton with a scythe.  Now, forced to enter the College of Deaths, she finds herself training to bring souls from the Living World to the Hereafter.

The task is demanding enough, but as the only female in the all-male College, she quickly becomes a target.  Attacked by both classmates and strangers, Suzie is alone in a world where even her teachers want her to fail.

Caught in the middle of a plot to overthrow the World of Deaths, Suzie must uncover the reason she’s been brought there: the first female Death in a million years

I really liked this book! It was really interesting! A lot of the people who have reviewed this book compares it to Harry Potter but I feel that it is more like the Hunger Games! Without kids killing other kids! It read well and was really addictive to read. I believe I finished in a day maybe a little bit into a second day.

The protagonist was perfectly flawed and I was immediately into her!  She was really determined but vulnerable and I really enjoyed that. Suzie has to face living in a world where she is the only female and having to cope and deal with all of the boys picking at her while she tries to be the best she can be.

In this book so many issues are present and were done really well. Including things like bullying, anxiety, loneliness, self-image, and more.

Mr. Mannino is currently writing a sequel for this book and I am really looking forward to seeing Suzie in the next book and I am hoping it will have some more books in the series as well.
